I’m going to start this episode with one giant truth-bomb - Confidence is one of the most important traits a woman can have! I’m talking more important than say positivity, a sense of humour, independence, intelligence, drive - all of those great and sort-after qualities. But what exactly is confidence?

For me, confidence is feeling comfortable in your true self without having to rely on external sources such as other people, titles or materialistic things to know your worth.

Imagine for a second that you were stripped of all of your titles - your position at work was no longer, your role as wife had been replaced, let’s say you wake up one morning to find that your nice car has been swapped for a beaten up lemon or you’ve been forced to move into a less than ideal neighbourhood, imagine all of your friends have moved overseas or worse yet, moved on … are you still 100% comfortable knowing your worth and what you can bring to the table? That is true self-confidence!

Now let’s talk about why it is so damn important? According to Forbes.com confidence not only impacts every area of a person's life but it is proven to be the biggest factor involved in a healthy, happy & fulfilling life. Now seriously, who doesn’t want to live a healthy, happy & fulfilled life! That’s what life is all about!

We all know at least one woman who can walk into a room and turn heads for all the right reasons. If you are confident, you are powerful - people believe you, people are attracted to you, success is drawn to you and happiness surrounds you. Honestly, I could talk all day about the power of confidence, but I’m going to let science do some of the hard work for me. There have been countless studies conducted, though one in particular by Webster University has proven that confidence is now considered to be more important than physical attractiveness therefore resulting in improved relationships both romantically and within our friendship circles. But that’s not all …

Confidence has also been dramatically linked to a person having less fear and anxiety, greater motivation, more resilience and more success at work.

Take Fear & Anxiety for example - the more confident you become, the more you’ll be able to calm the voice inside your head that says ‘I can’t do this!’. If you’re confidence is low, you’re probably familiar with how it feels to constantly mull over things and worry about perceived mistakes, playing them over and over again in your mind. This type of thinking is a big contributor to anxiety & depression but build your confidence muscle and you can break that cycle of over-thinking.

And let’s look at motivation because gaining motivation & actually keeping that motivation is a question I personally get asked about a lot -

One of the huge benefits of building confidence is that as your confidence grows, you’ll naturally be more driven to take slightly bigger steps to achieve slightly bigger goals. Those pesky “What if” thoughts will still pop up - what if I fail? What if I embarrass myself? You know the ones! but with a good level of  self-confidence, those thoughts won't be enough to stop you. You’ll continue to push through, smashing goal after goal after goal which as a result, creates more and more motivation.

For a lot of us, confidence doesn’t come easy but compared to many other personal traits, confidence can be learnt and/ or taught. We just need to know where to start in order to then be able to go ahead and make some improvements and that’s what I want to help you with today -

I have created a free eBook which will help you do just that. It is called Confidence - What’s jeopardising yours + simple ways to improve it! This powerful eBook was created to show you which areas of your life are currently thriving and which areas might need a little more attention to bring about more self-confidence.

So to close this episode, I want to leave you with one of my favourite quotes -

"Confidence isn’t walking into a room thinking you are better than everyone, it’s walking in not having to compare yourself to anyone at all."
