Spring/ Summer Footwear Staples
Footwear trends come & go but if you’re interested in building a really versatile wardrobe that works hard for you, there are 4 styles I recommend you invest in for Spring/ Summer.
Flip Flops
These tick the practicality box more than any other style. A pair of waterproof flip flops are perfect for beach days. They’re inexpensive and to be honest, I’m really enjoying the understated, i-just-rolled-out-of-bed-like this look (see image on the left) when styling a pair of trousers with trusty flip flops. Havaianas have a huge range, the TEVA Universal Slide is fab and Shop Sleepers is also another great brand (also ships to Australia) that specialise in biodegradable, ethically crafted flip flops.
Strappy Sandals
The must-have shoe for Spring/ Summer is a strappy sandal. You’ll get so much wear out of these regardless of whether you choose a delicate or chunky style. Wide, chunky sandals are great at giving tailored pieces a casual look & feel whilst delicate styles can be worn easily at night for more glam events. I’m loving the heeled versions too (see image on the right) - great for fancy lunches or afternoon drinks with the girls.
Slides/ Mules/ Ballet Flats
I’ve rightly or wrongly squeezed Ballet Flats at the end of this one (the only difference being that slides & mules usually have no back or constraint around the heel) however this is about investing in a pair of closed toe shoes in which a Ballet Flat falls nicely into this category. A pointed closed toe shoe will lengthen the look of your legs and work really well with most outfits and occasions.
Kitten Heels
Yes, please! I love a Kitten Heel and it’s great to see so many brands/ stores offering this style now. Maybe it’s an age thing or perhaps I just prioritise comfort these days but I’d add a kitten heel to cart over a sky-high heel any day of the week. It’s also fairly do-able to run a few errands or chase after kids (not advised) in a shorter heel too.
