Swimwear Styling
Swimwear can be really versatile and let’s be honest, some of the more premium brands are not cheap, so it makes sense to buy swimwear you can easily wear both in and out of the water, right?! Think wearing a bikini as a bralette, a one-piece as a bodysuit or a tankini as a tank top. Let’s start to think outside the box …
Button Up Shirts
A button-up shirt is a wardrobe staple for good reason. I actually can’t think of any occasion in which a button-up wouldn’t work, poolside included. I prefer an oversized fit that doubles as a cover-up but works equally as well all year round. Wear your shirt effortlessly buttoned (just 1 or 2 buttons only), with a beautiful trouser or structured shorts and the swimwear becomes a base-layer that looks like a bralette or tank top.
Two Piece Sets
Two-piece sets are the easiest way to look instantly stylish (minus the effort), plus they’re comfortable to wear with your favourite bikini, one-piece or tankini.
Don’t be afraid to wear the shirt completely undone so you can see your swimsuit underneath. If wearing a printed two-piece set, I recommend choosing one colour in the print and wearing a coloured swimsuit to match or vice versa - if you're set is a solid colour have fun with a printed swimsuit that includes that colour too.
Throw-On Dress
A simple dress is the ultimate throw-on piece. It requires next to no styling and can easily take you from brunch to beach to lunch to pool. They’re practical and a great way to dress on really warm days when you feel hot & sticky wearing any clothes at all.
A shirt style dress is a versatile choice as it gives you options - you can cover up completely or undo a few buttons to let your swimwear peek through.
Linen Love
No other fabric screams beach babe, relaxed, care-free than Linen. Uniqlo are one of my go-to linen brands - they’re 100% premium linen is affordable and the quality is incredible. Linen comes in a stack of different colours and prints + it dries quickly too.
Accessories
Accessories play a big part in elevating swimwear and making it more appropriate for a number of different activities. Simply add a statement hat, oversized sunglasses and a woven tote bag to lift an outfit or swap Flip Flops for Strappy Sandals and you’re ready for an epic sunset and afternoon cocktails, followed by a 3-course meal.
